The objective of the Centre is to impart training to the in-service teachers in the areas of Teaching Aptitude, Materials Production, Testing and Evaluation, so that the teachers can develop their skills in these areas; the centre also trains the students to develop professional interest in their specialized filed.
The Centre for Professional Development has been established with the sole aim of providing the required training for the teachers of each Department in the areas of teaching, testing and evaluation.
The periodical training is broadly classified into three categories. Qualified freshers are given an orientation at the entry point in order to motivate them in the right and positive attitude to teaching and learning. The purpose of such training is mainly to make the new teacher realise that the teacher is the first learner in the class.
A special refresher course is conducted for teachers who have completed five years of service in their subject. The Refresher Course aims at enabling the teacher to have sustained interest in teaching and testing.
An advanced training is conducted for the teachers who have put in more than ten years of service with the purpose of creating an interest in the field of research and research methodology. Such an advanced training aims at serious research, special project work and inventions.
All the three types of training are specially designed to suit the needs of the latest developments in Science and Technology.
An intensive training in Aptitude and Communication is organized for the pre-final/final year students to identify their professional interest and help them to choose the appropriate profession.
