To create awareness about disaster management, a separate centre has been established by the Bharath University. The public need to be taught about the precautions to escape unhurt and also to meet the eventualities after such calamities such as earthquake, flood and cyclone.
Some of the immediate requirements to the victims of natural calamities include food, cloth and shelter. It is essential to identify the methods of disaster management and to implement the same by way of training the public through various centers.
Various facilities in the centre include a well-equipped GIS software laboratory, trained and experienced Faculty along with a training centre for the purpose of
- training the student community about the preparedness of Disaster Management
- assisting the suffering public during the eventuality of Disasters and
- coordinating with the Government in the rehabilitation of the affected people.
(i) To set up a laboratory to forecast the possibility of the disasters prior to its occurrence.
(ii) To create an awareness among the public about the safety measures to be taken during emergency
(iii) To assist the suffering public during the eventuality of Disasters.
(iv) To coordinate with the Government in rehabilitation of affected people
(v) To make them assemble at various shelters and to offer them necessary arrangements with required relief materials
(vi) To arrange for immediate food arrangement and to distribute the same to all the affected people.
(vii) To avoid spreading of epidemic diseases during calamity due to large gathering at one place during that time.
(viii) To attend to the required medical facilities.
(ix) To facilitate them to return to their normal walk of life, after certain duration
Hence in order to plan and suggest the various approach methodologies and to implement the same Disaster management centre are to be formulated.
