Humanities |
The Department
of Science and Humanities comprises
of four branches of study namely Physics,
Chemistry, Mathematics and English.
All these four disciplines exist as
separate departments and maintain individual
identity. Well-experienced and highly
qualified faculty members are there
who have made consistent strenuous efforts
to improve our Teaching-Learning and
Research & Development processes.
The predominant objective is to impart
quality education and enhance the placement
opportunities of our students. Our thrust
is also in the area of Research &
Development. The

Programmes offered
The Department of Science and Humanities
offers a unique and complete program
in the study of general scientific,
engineering and linguistic concepts,
principles and phenomena with sufficient
emphasis on computer aided analysis
and industrial applications. The curriculum
is updated catering to the needs of
the modern times. Project work and seminar
are made compulsory to help students
develop communication skills and presentation
skills.

Facilities
Language Lab: In information
Era language forms a basic aspect in
Science, Technology and Management studies.
Bearing this in mind, a Skillphone-Based
Audio Visual and Audio active Language
Lab bas been set up. This enables the
students learn English grammar and pronunciation
correctly. Courses are offered in Language
Teaching and speaking and in New international
Business English. |
Physics and Chemistry:
The departments have laboratories with
the state-of-art analytical equipments
such as GC, HPLC, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer,
IR,FTIR, TOC, TGA and UTM. Powder XRD
equipment. As the laboratory is well
equipped with adequate facilities, the
departments are undertaking many industrial
consultancies and testing works.
Computer Labs: The
department has exclusive state-of-the-art
computer laboratories for the first
year students.
LIBRARY: The Department
has its own library including a number
of rare books on Mathematics, Physics,
Chemistry and English.
Workshop: Mechanical
engineering department maintains a full-fledged
workshop exclusively for the use of
first year students.

Recent Events
Seminar on Communicative English:
The department of English organized
a seminar on "Stay Ahead with English"
on 29th Jan, 2008. Dr.S. Renganathan,
Vice- Chancellor of Bharath University,
Dr. K.P. Thooyamani, Registrar., Dr.
M. Michael Scudder HOD- English and
all other faculties were there to grace
the occasion. Prof.Pakkir Mohamed was
the guest of honor of the day. He enlightened
the students in various ways to lead
a better life with the help of English
language and effective communication.
He also elaborated how they can face
the interviews confidently and find
placement suitably.
Training the trainers:
Series of programmes are organized by
the Department of English to train the
trainers, So that they can in turn make
their training efficient and effective.
Convergence 2007: A
national conference (Convergence 2007)
was organized by the department in March
2007
Convergence 2008. A national conference
(Convergence 2008) will be held on 14th
March 2008.
Faculty Development Programme:
The department is organizing faculty
development programmes for faculty members
every year. |
