Library
To supplement the resources in the Central Library, there is a library in our School of Mechanical Sciences consisting course oriented text books, I.S. Codes, proceedings of workshops/seminars, a few important national and international journals, UG & PG Students project reports, and laboratory manuals.

Projects
The students have taken up industry oriented projects in the last three years to solve the industrial problems in companies and organizations like Brakes India Ltd., Rane (Madras) Ltd., Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Ashok Leyland, ICF, Rane Engine Valves, Delphi-TVS, Madras Fertilizers Ltd., L&T, Hyundai, Rane TRW Steering System Ltd., BHEL (Ranipet), Electra - Automotive (Madras) Pvt., Ltd., Sundaram Fasteners Ltd., and UCAL Fuel System Ltd., Addison & co., Ltd., NSIC., CLRI., SHAR., Heavy Vehicles Factory.,

Faculty & Research
The School of Mechanical Sciences has highly qualified and experienced faculty. Research activities at the School of Mechanical Sciences are progressing in the areas of Biodiesel, Geothermal, Gear technology and Computer Aided design of Machine elements and Machine Tool Structures. About 50 research papers have been published in various international and national conferences/journals in the last few years. Six books have also been published by our faculty members.

Conference & Symposia Conducted
The School of Mechanical Sciences conducts national conferences to share their knowledge obtained through research with other researchers in India. The jewel in the crown is the recently held National Conference on Mechanical Engineering Research (NCMER 2007) on 23rd Feb 2007 & NCMER 2008 on 20th Feb 2008 and it was a grant success with active participation of delegates from highly reputed universities.

Mechanical Engineering Association is a forum for students to develop their professional skills. The School of Mechanical Sciences also conducts many student level National Technical Symposia to bring out the technical skill of the students and to update their knowledge in the modern developments in Engineering and Technology. Hands-on design contest is the highlight of these symposia.
