The School of
Management Studies was established
in 1992 to offer Full time and Part
time MBA Programmes. In 2003, the school
became part of the University. Doctoral
Program in Management, both External
and Internal, was added to the stream.
Full time program envisages theoretical
inputs to enhance conceptual and functional
skills and practical inputs comprising
of workshops / seminars (both national
& international) and industrial
visits. Quiz programs, training in interviewing
techniques by external experts and internal
faculty results in well - rounded personality
of students thereby strengthening their
capabilities to face employment interviews.

The ambience encourages research temper
and analytical acumen. We are passionate
about conducting research and teaching
curriculum relevant to the industry
requirement and to produce talented
students with a Can-do attitude. The
school has excellent infrastructure
and the instructions to the students
are mostly multimedia centric.
The school has a galaxy of faculty possessing
high academic background and sound industrial
experience which includes stints in
institutions / industries abroad. The
faculty are encouraged to take-up consultancy
assignments and funded research programs.
The P.G program of the School leading
to the award of MBA Degree is semester
based - 4 for Full time and 6 for Part
time . Innovative courses are included,
for instance a 3 credit course on Japanese
Management Techniques. Dual Specialization
is offered and 25 electives are offered
including one on Hospital Management.
Recently topics of current interest
such as Outsourcing Management, Industrial
and Business Finance and Commercial
Banking have been included as electives.
Specialized Certificate and P.G Diploma
programs in Functional Management areas
and for different groups are also on
the anvil. For instance, P.G Diploma
in Management for educated house wives,
P.G Diploma for working executives without
formal degree etc. Rural Development
Cell, a rejuvenated Consultancy Cell,
Centre of Excellence in Total Quality
Management etc. are also being implemented.
Entrepreneurship Development Centre
(EDC) with the assistance of Government
of India is also being set up. Similarly
with the assistance of SIDBI, A Centre
for SME Governance is also being established
as part of Bharath University SMS. The
SMS for the first time in the country
has tied up with the Indian Institute
of Banking and Finance for offering
the Diploma Course in Banking and Finance.
Moreover, the SMS has plans to offer
technical and financial consultancy
services to all the needy small and
medium industries in Chinglepet, Chennai
and Kancheepuram districts.
Future Plans
- Bharath School of Management Studies
will conduct a National level Conference
on 'Emerging Trends in Entrepreneurship'
on 6th March 2008 where successful Entrepreneurs
from different Industries are going
to share their experience on the occasion.
- Special lectures by eminent persons
will be organised every week for better
understanding of management skills
- Visits to leading industries, banks
and broking houses, mutual funds will
be organised to gain first hand experience.
- Technology Business Incubator will
be set up wit the assistance of Government
of India for successful commercialization
of prototype projects
- Better coordination with the industry
will be achieved |
